Giants S Butler out against Philadelphia
Nov 7, 2008 - 7:27 PM EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New York Giants will be without safety James Butler for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to a sprained right ankle, the team announced Friday.Butler was injured early in the second half during New York's 35-14 victory the Dallas Cowboys. He intercepted Brooks Bollinger on the second play of the third quarter, but did not return.
"No, he wasn't able to go (in practice), so he will be out," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Friday.
In Butler's absence, rookie Kenny Phillips will start in the secondary.
"(Phillips) has played a lot," Coughlin said. "It is not like he hasn't been on the field. He has been on the field extensively in a lot of different categories. So I think he is ready."
