Malkin added to All-Star roster

Jan 22, 2008 - 7:53 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin has been added to the Eastern Conference roster for Sunday's NHL All-Star Game in Atlanta.

Malkin replaces teammate Sidney Crosby, who suffered a high ankle sprain Friday against the Tampa Bay Lightning and will miss at least six weeks.

"I am honored to be selected to the All-Star Game and have the opportunity to play with some of the best players in the NHL," Malkin said. "It is unfortunate that Sidney will not be able to participate."

Malkin, 21, leads the Penguins in goals with 26 and ranks second on the team in scoring behind Crosby with 56 points, good for ninth in the league.
