PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins signed left wing Ruslan Fedotenko to a one-year contract on Thursday.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but TSN of Canada reported that the deal is worth $2.5 million.
The addition of Fedotenko could offset the loss of four-time All-Star forward Marian Hossa, who signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday after helping lead the Penguins to this year's Stanley Cup Finals.
Fedotenko, 29, had 16 goals and 17 assists with the New York Islanders last season, his first with the team. He led the Islanders with a career-high eight power-play goals.
Fedotenko has 13 goals in 53 career playoff games and was a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning when they won the Stanley Cup in 2004.
Fedotenko has 122 career goals over seven seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, Lightning and Islanders.
