Sep 21, 2008 - 4:46 AM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The preseason has not gotten off to a good start for Sergei Gonchar. The Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman left Saturday's preseason-opening 5-4 shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday in the first period with an undisclosed injury and has not returned.
Gonchar saw just 3 minutes, 47 seconds of action over five shifts before leaving. Shortly before exiting, the four-time All-Star was on the receiving end of a check from David Koci, which could have been the cause of the injury.
