LONDON, Ontario (Ticker) -- Martin Biron and Jean-Sebastien Aubin combined for 24 saves as the Philadelphia Flyers blanked the New York Islanders, 4-0, in a preseason game at the John Labatt Centre on Thursday.

New captain Mike Richards and Joffrey Lupul each had a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who got the only tally they needed when Richards poked in a loose puck with 5:44 to go in the first period.

Mike Knuble doubled the lead 54 seconds into the middle session by tipping former Islanders defenseman Bryan Berard's shot past goaltender Yann Danis, and Jeff Carter scored on a one-timer with 7:07 remaining in the period to make it 3-0.

Lupul capped the scoring in the third, netting a power-play goal during a 3-on-1 rush with 5 1/2 minutes left.

Danis stopped 22 shots for New York, which rested most of its veteran players.
