GOTEBORG, Sweden (Ticker) -- Captain Daniel Alfredsson scored a goal and set up another in front of his hometown crowd as the Ottawa Senators posted a 4-1 victory over the Frolunda Indians of the Swedish Elite League.
Chris Kelly, Alex Picard and Jason Spezza also tallied for the Senators, who will open their regular season on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Stockholm, Sweden.
A Goteborg native and former Frolunda star, Alfredsson received an ovation from the crowd when he provided Ottawa with a 2-0 lead in the first period.
Alfredsson took a pass from fellow All-Star Spezza for a partial breakaway and fought off defenseman Philip Larsen to score with 6:29 remaining.
Ottawa center Mike Fisher left the contest with a groin injury. It was the second time since training camp began that Fisher injured his groin.
Blue-liner Oscar Hedman scored for Frolunda.
