LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks are familiar with slow starts.
The Ducks try to earn their first points of the new season on Tuesday when they visit the Los Angeles Kings.
After back-to-back 100-point campaigns - the first two in franchise history - Anaheim has struggled in their first two contests. The Ducks lost their opener by three goals to the San Jose Sharks before dropping a 4-2 decision to the Phoenix Coyotes in their home debut on Sunday.
It isn't the first time the Ducks have struggled out of the gate. Following their Stanley Cup triumph in 2006-07, the Ducks opened last season 4-7-2 before finding their stride and cruising to the playoffs.
The Kings are also seeking their first points of the new season after suffering a sweep in a home-and-home series with the Sharks over the weekend.
The start was hardly unexpected for Los Angeles, which finished tied for last in the NHL with 71 points last season. The Kings, who have just one goal thus far, are hoping to end a five-year playoff drought.
