PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The New York Islanders may catch a much-needed break Saturday.

Apparently still affected by the mysterious injury he suffered last week, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby left practice early on Friday and is questionable for Saturday's game against the Islanders, according to a report on the team's web site.

"(I'm) a little sore today," Crosby said. "We'll see tomorrow."

The 21-year-old superstar was injured in Pittsburgh's 4-1 loss at Phoenix on October 30 but did not miss either of the Penguins' next two contests. The team did not disclose the nature of the injury at the time.

"It's been like this for a week," Pittsburgh coach Michel Therrien told the web site. "We'll see how he feels tomorrow. So far, he's felt good enough to play those games. He got hurt a little bit. We hope he's going to be there tomorrow."

The absence of Crosby would be good news for the Islanders, who have squandered third-period leads in three of their last four games, losing two of those contests. On Thursday, New York entered the final session with a 3-1 advantage only to drop a 4-3 decision.

The first overall pick in 2005 who won both the Hart and Art Ross Trophy in 2007, Crosby has recorded three goals and 13 assists in 13 games this season.
