Penguins recall G Curry
Nov 18, 2008 - 4:27 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday recalled goaltender John Curry from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.Curry posted 24-12-3 record in 40 contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season and was named to the 2008 AHL All-Rookie Team.
The 24-year old also turned in a 2.83 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage in 23 playoff games, helping the club reach the Calder Cup Finals.
The Penguins are currently without top goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who is nursing an undisclosed injury. Dany Sabourin will see the bulk of the action in Fleury's absence.
