OTTAWA (Ticker) -- It's not hard to figure out why the Ottawa Senators are struggling.
The Senators will try to get their offense back on track and snap a six-game winless streak when they take on the New York Rangers on Saturday.
Ottawa has managed just seven goals over its recent slump (0-4-2). The Senators will try to avoid their first seven-game winless streak since November 21-December 4, 2007, against a team that defeated them, 2-1, in a shootout on Monday.
Alexandre Picard had two assists Thursday, but Ottawa faltered in the bonus format en route to a 3-2 setback to the Montreal Canadiens. The Senators have tallied two goals or less in 13 of their first 19 contests.
Ottawa's dynamic top-line of Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza and captain Daniel Alfredsson have combined for 21 goals. No other player on the team has more than three goals.
The Rangers had their three-game winning streak snapped Wednesday, falling to the Vancouver Canucks, 6-3. Chris Drury had a goal and assist, but Henrik Lundqvist surrendered five goals in less than 26 minutes before being replaced by Steve Valiquette.
Lundqvist leads the NHL with 12 wins, posting a 2.15 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.
