ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild named defenseman Kim Johnsson as their captain for the month of December prior to Monday's 6-5 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
It will be the first stint as the Wild's captain for the 32-year-old Swede, who has one goal and seven assists in 22 games this season.
Mikko Koivu served as the team captain in November for Minnesota, which rotates the honor on a monthly basis.
Johnsson struggled in his first game as captain. He assisted on defenseman Brent Burns' third-period goal, but he finished with a minus-3.
