Lightning recall pair from Norfolk
Dec 3, 2008 - 12:36 AM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday recalled left wing Radek Smolenak and center Paul Szczechura from Norfolk of the American Hockey League.Both players made their NHL debuts in Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Smolenak, who turns 22 on Wednesday, was a third-round pick in the 2005 draft. The 6-2, 180-pound native of Prague, Czech Republic has recorded eight goals, 10 assists and 93 penalty minutes in 23 games with Norfolk this season.
Szczechura, 23, currently leads the Admirals with 11 goals and 24 points in 23 games this campaign. The 5-11, 190-pounder from Brantford, Ontario spent four seasons at Western Michigan before signing with Tampa Bay as a free agent on April 24.
