Penguins place C Kennedy on injured reserve
Dec 6, 2008 - 12:16 AM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins placed center Tyler Kennedy on injured reserve Friday with a sprained knee suffered in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the New York Rangers.The Penguins announced Kennedy will be sidelined four to six weeks after he underwent an examination Friday.
Kennedy did not travel with the team for Thursday's 5-2 victory at Carolina.
The 22-year-old, who has been playing on Pittsburgh's third line with Jordan Staal and Matt Cooke, is tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 15 points in 24 games. A fourth-round pick in 2004, Kennedy notched 10 goals and nine assists in 55 contests last season - his first in the NHL.
