Penguins sign C Talbot to two-year deal
Dec 19, 2008 - 5:45 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday signed center Maxime Talbot to a two-year contract.Financial terms of the contract, which will run through the 2010-11 season, were not disclosed.
Talbot has four goals and three assists in 28 games this season. Last season, he registered career highs with 26 points and 14 assists in 63 games.
"Max has developed into one of the key players in our organization," Penguins general manager Ray Shero said. "He has shown his versatility and plays in all situations for our hockey club.
"He played an integral role in helping our team reach the (Stanley Cup) Finals last season and we look forward to having him for the coming years."
Talbot, 24, had a strong postseason with three goals and six assists in 17 games to help the Penguins reach the Stanley Cup Finals. He scored a late tying goal in Pittsburgh's triple- overtime win in Game Five of the Finals against Detroit.
In 214 career games, Talbot has notched 34 goals and 31 assists. He's added three goals and seven assists in 22 postseason contests.
