Penguins sign C Staal
Jan 9, 2009 - 12:56 AM NASHVILLE (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday agreed to terms with center Jordan Staal on a new four-year contract.Financial terms of the deal, which goes into effect at the start of next season, were not disclosed. However, TSN of Canada is reporting Staal will receive $16 million over the length of the contract.
Pittsburgh's first-round pick - second overall - in the 2006 draft, Staal has recorded 52 goals, 91 points and 98 penalty minutes in 204 games with the Penguins.
The 20-year-old has registered 11 goals and 21 points in 41 games this campaign.
