Penguins C Crosby to miss All-Star game

Jan 22, 2009 - 10:28 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- For the second straight season, the NHL's All-Star game will be missing its biggest star.

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby will miss the midseason gala to rest his injured knee, according to multiple reports.

Doctors have recommended that Crosby not skate for four to five days, according to TSN. Crosby also missed last season's All-Star game with a high ankle sprain.

The 2006-07 Hart and Art Ross trophy winner received the most votes ever in fan balloting (1, 713,021), smashing Jaromir Jagr's previous record.

Crosby will be replaced in the game by Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The first overall pick of the 2005 draft, Crosby is second in the league in scoring with 60 points.
