Devils RW Langenbrunner named NHL's First Star

Feb 2, 2009 - 7:09 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- After recording three game-winners for the league's hottest team, New Jersey Devils right wing Jamie Langenbrunner on Monday was named the NHL's "First Star" of the week.

Langenbrunner led all players with six goals as the Devils went 3-0-0 last week to move into first place in the Atlantic Division and extended their winning streak to eight games.

New Jersey's fourth-leading scorer this season with 41 points, Langenbrunner produced overtime game-winners against Boston and Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby paced all players in scoring with eight points - three goals and five assists - to earn the "Second Star" honor. Crosby, who increased his point total to 68, remains second in the NHL scoring race behind teammate Evgeni Malkin.

Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green earned "Third Star" status with three goals and four assists in a 2-0-1 week. Green is tied for the league lead in scoring among defensemen with 40 points.
