Lightning D Meszaros leaves game

Feb 5, 2009 - 5:42 AM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Andrej Meszaros left Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second period with an apparent arm injury and did not return.

The 23-year-old absorbed a hard open-ice hit from Pittsburgh All-Star Evgeni Malkin and skated off the ice in obvious pain. Meszaros recorded one shot on goal in 10 minutes, 33 seconds of ice time before exiting.

A native of Povazska Bystrica, Czech Republic, Meszaros has recorded two goals and 14 assists in 52 games this season.

Meszaros, who was drafted 23rd overall by Ottawa in 2004, has collected 28 tallies and 98 assists in 298 contests with the Senators and Lightning over his four-year career.
