HIGHLIGHTS: Paul DeJong Homers in Second Straight Game to Lift White Sox Over Rays (5.8.24)

Starting Pitcher Chris Flexen was lights out on the mound in tonight’s series finale vs. the Tampa Bay Rays. Flexen, who did not allow a hit until the fourth, tossed 6.0 innings and struck out a season-high 8 batters. Tampa Bay struck first in the bottom of the fourth on an Isaac Paredes RBI double. However, their lead did not last long. In the top of the fifth, Paul DeJong launched a 2-run 400 ft homer to left field to bring home Bryan Ramos. This was DeJong’s second home run in as many games. White Sox offense added a couple more runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend the lead. Bryan Ramos singled on a sharp ground ball to Jonny DeLuca to allow Andrew Benintendi to score from second base. Tommy Pham came through once again with a single to center to score Paul DeJong. Sox lead 4-1. Rays would attempt a comeback in the seventh, but a clutch play by Gavin Sheets to double-off Isacc Paredes would foil their efforts, strand two runners and get the Sox out of the inning....
