The Tar Heels made 53.0% of their shots in the second half after shooting just 29.4% in the first half. Caleb Love and Dawson Garcia each scored 22 points to lead North Carolina in scoring. R.J. Davis score 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Despite playing just seven minutes in the first half, Armando Bacot finished the game with nine points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two blocks.

The Heels outscored the Phoenix 46-14 in the paint and outrebounded Elon 53-25 in the win.
