Blue Bombers extend WR Edwards again

Apr 16, 2012 - 5:06 PM Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers once again extended the contract of wide receiver Terrence Edwards.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

"Terrence has been one of our most consistent receivers since he came to Winnipeg and has great leadership qualities and work ethic that is looked up to by the rest of his teammates," said Bombers vice president and general manager Joe Mack. "He will continue to be a key component of our offence and we look forward to having him continue to mentor our young group of receivers."

The soon-to-be 33-year-old posted 66 receptions for 1,124 yards and eight touchdowns for Winnipeg in 2011.

Edwards, who has been with the Bombers since 2007, sits sixth all-time in receiving yardage (5,602) and his 41 touchdown catches rank seventh in club lore.

"As a team, we came so close to achieving our goal last season of bringing the Grey Cup home to the great fans in Winnipeg and I'm looking forward to coming back to pick up where we left off," said Edwards. "I'm very grateful to this organization and am proud to be a member of the Blue Bombers."

Winnipeg won the East Division with a 10-8 record, beating Hamilton in the division final before falling in the Grey Cup to British Columbia.
