Dyson, Royals down Rangers

Aug 24, 2014 - 4:51 AM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarrod Dyson drove in three runs to lead the Kansas City Royals past the Texas Rangers, 6-3, on Saturday.

Alex Gordon homered and Omar Infante hit a two-run single for the Royals, who have won five of their last six games.

"It's just all about going out there and getting the job done," said Dyson. "The more you win and believe it, it becomes routine to you."

Jeremy Guthrie (10-10) surrendered just one run on five hits with two strikeouts over eight strong innings to earn the win.

Leonys Martin supplied a two-run single in the ninth inning and Shin-Soo Choo homered for Texas, which has dropped the first two games of this three-game series.

Starter Nick Tepesch (4-8) was tagged with the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits and three walks over 6 1/3 frames.

"I felt like I was all over the place all night," Tepesch said.

The Royals wasted no time getting on the board. Gordon crushed a fastball to deep right with two outs in the first for his 15th homer of the season.

Soo-Choo responded with a solo shot of his own to left-center in the home half.

In the fifth, Tepesch walked Dyson with the bases loaded to usher in a run and Infante's single to center drove in two which gave Kansas City a 4-1 lead.

Dyson's liner up the middle off Alex Claudio in the seventh drove in two more runs for the Royals.

The Rangers threatened in the ninth. Aaron Crow retired the first two batters before giving up a walk to Alex Rios. Adrian Beltre singled to place runners on the corners and moved to second on defensive indifference. Martin plated both runners with a single to right, but J.P. Arencibia flied out to center to end the game.
