Fielder, Choo homer as Rangers beat Royals

May 14, 2015 - 6:15 AM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Prince Fielder went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, Yovani Gallardo tossed seven solid innings and the Texas Rangers beat the Kansas City Royals 5-2 on Wednesday.

Shin-Soo Choo went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI for the Rangers, who have won three of four. Adrian Beltre drove in a run.

Gallardo (3-5), who had lost his previous four starts, allowed two runs on six hits. He picked up his first win since April 17 at Seattle.

"Felt good, to be honest," Gallardo said.

Salvador Perez and Kendrys Morales had one RBI apiece for the Royals. Yordano Ventura (2-3) gave up five runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts over seven innings.

"I thought he did a nice job of containing the damage and keeping us in there," Royals manager Ned Yost said.

The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Choo got things going with a leadoff homer for the second straight night. Elvis Andrus walked, moved to third on Fielder's single and scored on Beltre's hit to left. Mitch Moreland added another single to load the bases with no outs, but Ventura struck out Carlos Peguero and Robinson Chirinos before getting Thomas Field to line out.

Fielder hit a two-run homer in the second. Delino DeShields Jr. led off with a single and moved to third on Choo's hit. DeShields stayed at third when Andrus grounded into a double play, but Fielder followed with a blast to right-center field.

Texas plated another run in the fourth when DeShields tripled and scored on Choo's groundout.

Kansas City finally got on the board in the seventh. Lorenzo Cain led off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and raced home on Morales' double down the right-field line. Two batters later, Perez hit an RBI double to left.

Shawn Tolleson tossed a scoreless eighth and Neftali Feliz pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth save of the season.
