Rangers erase early deficit, beat Indians
May 27, 2015 - 6:13 AM Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Mitch Moreland's eight-inning homer was the difference as Texas rallied to claim a 4-3 victory over Cleveland in the second edition of a three-game series.Prince Fielder added three hits and struck the biggest blow, a game-tying three-run shot in the fifth for the Rangers. Elvis Andrus also picked up three hits as the Dallas-area franchise won their seventh straight game.
"(Fielder) is a tremendous hitter," said Rangers manager Jeff Banister.
Keone Kela (4-1) tossed a scoreless bottom of the seventh, while Shawn Tolleson had an unquiet ninth but gained his fifth save anyway.
Ryan Raburn finished with a home run among his two hits and scored twice for the Indians. Jason Kipnis also went deep in the setback.
Nick Hagadone (0-1) took the loss after giving up Moreland's blast.
Moreland's one-out solo shot in the eighth gave the Rangers a 4-3 lead, their first of the contest. Andrus later doubled and stole third, but was stranded when Thomas Field flied out.
Ross Ohlendorf worked around a two-out single from Yan Gomes in the eighth by fanning Brandon Moss, but Tolleson endured a rougher ride despite his scoreless final frame.
Kipnis reached with two outs on an Andrus error and Carlos Santana was hit, but Michael Brantley grounded back to the mound for the last out of the contest.
"I don't think there's anybody else we'd rather have up there besides him," Kipnis said of Brantley. "Even when I'm going well, I'd still rather have him up over me. The guy is just that good."
Kipnis and Raburn hit solo homers in the Indians' first turn at the plate, then a Gomes sacrifice fly brought home Raburn in the fourth and the hosts were ahead 3-0.
The Rangers stormed back with three in the fifth. Leonys Martin walked and Shin-Soo Choo was plunked with one out before Fielder cleared the wall in right center to tie the score.
