Bumgarner, Giants top Rockies

Jun 29, 2015 - 12:59 AM San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Madison Bumgarner smacked a solo homer and fired 7 2/3 innings of two-run ball as the San Francisco Giants defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-3 in the rubber game of a three-game set.

Matt Duffy was a single shy of the cycle and scored three runs, while Brandon Crawford added a solo shot for the Giants, who have won four of their last five games.

Bumgarner (8-4), who tallied his 1,000th career strikeout, punched out eight, scattered five hits and walked two. Santiago Casilla recorded the final two outs in the ninth to notch his 21st save of the year.

"Bum, he did it all," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "After that first inning he was terrific."

Nolan Arenado hit a pair of homers, cracking a two-run and a solo blast for Colorado, which had won five of its last seven games coming in.

Kyle Kendrick (3-10) surrendered five runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 frames in defeat.

"I left some pitches up. That's what happened," said Kendrick.

Arenado's two-run shot to left opened the scoring in the first, but the Giants scored a run in the home first, two in the third, two more in the sixth and another in the seventh to go ahead.

Buster Posey's RBI single in the first cut the Giants' deficit to 2-1. Bumgarner singled to lead off the third and Duffy hit a two-out double to put runners on second and third. Posey ripped a base hit to left to plate Bumgarner and Duffy to give the Giants a 3-2 advantage.

Duffy and Crawford homered in the sixth and Bumgarner banged his solo shot high off the foul pole down the left field line to extend the San Francisco margin to 6-2 in the seventh.

Arenado's solo shot in the ninth capped the scoring.
