Robinson sparks Warriors in OT win over HeatJan 11, 2012 - 7:18 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Nate Robinson caught fire and ruined Dwyane Wade's return.
Robinson scored eight straight points during a fourth quarter surge, and the Golden State Warriors rallied from a 17-point deficit Tuesday to beat the Miami Heat in overtime, 111-106.
"We fought," said Warriors head coach Mark Jackson. "When it gets tough there is a point, just like in life, where you can fold the tent or you can fight. And we [fought]."
Stuck on seven points through three quarters, Robinson led the comeback. He finished with a team-high 24 points and Monta Ellis scored 22 as the Warriors snapped a six-game losing streak to the Heat.
Wade played for the first time in four games and scored 34, perhaps quelling fears he had plantar fasciitis in his left foot. LeBron James added 26 with 11 rebounds, but Miami had a three-game winning streak snapped in its second loss of the season.
The Warriors snapped a five-game losing streak, taking the lead for good on Dorell Wright's three-pointer with 1:26 left in overtime. He also knocked down a game-tying three near the end of the fourth quarter, but the Warriors ruined a last chance to win it in regulation by not getting a final shot off.
Robinson had a key steal in overtime, sending the ball forward to Wright for a fastbreak dunk that made it 107-104 with 66 seconds remaining. After a Wade bucket, Ellis knocked down a tough jumper over Shane Battier and the Heat didn't score again despite keeping the ball on an out-of-bounds play that was reviewed by officials.
Wright scored 20 points, going 6-for-11 from long range after making just 5- of-27 from three-point range in his first eight games. David Lee also scored 20 with 14 rebounds, compared to 16 points and four rebounds for Miami's Chris Bosh.
Robinson took over near the end of regulation, His eight straight points tied the game at 93-93 with 1:44 remaining.
After a layup, he knocked down a three-pointer from high on the left side, then drove past James for two more points after Ellis blocked Udonis Haslem at the other end.
Haslem was whistled for a technical foul, and Robinson made the free throw to tie the game.
Brandon Rush blocked Wade, but threw the ball away at the other end and James ended up making 1-of-2 free throws to give Miami the lead. Ellis then turned the ball over for Golden State, and Wade hit two foul shots to make it 96-93 with 49.5 seconds left.
Wright hit his game-tying three from the left side, making it 96-96, but the Warriors couldn't capitalize on a Wade miss. They had 13 seconds left to get a final shot off, but couldn't.
Still, it was a thrilling comeback from being down 17 points with 1:15 left in the third quarter. The Warriors held Miami to just 2-of-17 shooting (11.8 percent) in the fourth to overcome an 84-72 deficit at the start of the quarter.
Golden State had a 27-22 lead after the first quarter but were behind 57-53 at halftime.
The Warriors won for the third time in their last 11 games against Miami...The Heat went 3-0 with Wade out of the lineup. They are 2-1 on a five-game road trip...The Warriors are 1-1 on a three-game homestand that ends against Orlando on Thursday.
