Ramon Sessions tallied 20 points and seven assists for the Bucks, who snapped a six-game skid. At 15-64, the Bucks hold the worst record in the NBA. That is two games clear of Philadelphia (17-62), which lost at Memphis Friday night.
Khris Middleton had 17 points, Zaza Pachulia 16, John Henson 15 and Chris Wright 14 for the Bucks.
"We just wanted to get him established early," Bucks coach Larry Drew said of Henson.
Dion Waiters had 23 points and Jarrett Jack scored 21 off the bench for the Cavaliers, who lost for the third time in four games.
"They kind of got what they wanted to offensively all night," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. "Whether it was the pick-and-roll, the isolations and the transitions, we paid the price for it by giving up 119 points on 52 percent from the field."
Knight's jumper with 4:07 left put the Bucks ahead for good at 107-106. Milwaukee made 10-of-14 foul shots in the final quarter to help offset Cleveland's 12-of-23 showing from the floor in the fourth.
A jumper from Waiters had the visitors within 118-114 with 34.6 seconds left, and the Cavs got the ball back after Knight missed a jumper with under 10 seconds left. Kyrie Irving then missed a 3-point shot to seal the outcome.
Irving had 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting.
The Bucks went 16-of-26 from the floor in the opening quarter to gain a 37-32 edge, but the Cavs made 65 percent in the second to forge ahead, 69-62 at the break. Cleveland scored 14 in a row during the quarter with Waiters providing nine of those points.
Milwaukee finished the third on a 12-1 spurt to gain a 92-87 edge moving to the fourth. Knight had seven of those points.
