Atlanta's Millsap, Korver haunt Jazz

Nov 13, 2014 - 3:47 AM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver burned their former team on Wednesday, combining for 47 points in the Atlanta Hawks' 100-97 win over the Utah Jazz.

Millsap, who spent the first seven years of his career with the Jazz, went for season highs of 30 points and 17 rebounds. Korver stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. It was his 3-pointer with 58 seconds left that put the Hawks in front for good.

The Hawks trailed 88-82 heading into the fourth quarter but locked down defensively over the final 12 minutes, limiting Utah to nine points on 4-of-18 shooting.

"Looking at our defense in the fourth quarter, holding them to nine points gave us a chance to win a heck of a game," said Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer. "Very pleased with that effort in the fourth quarter." our group.

The Jazz led by eight following Alec Burks' jumper at 4:34. From there, Millsap made a tip-in, Korver found Thabo Sefolosha for a layup in transition and Millsap added another layup to pull the Hawks within two. With just under a minute remaining, Korver let it fly from the left wing and hit nothing but nylon.

Jeff Teague, who tallied 20 points and eight assists, made two free throws with 5.7 seconds left, and Trey Burke missed everything on his running 3- pointer as time expired.

Burks paced Utah with 22 points, Derrick Favors scored 20 and Burke posted 11 points with 11 assists.

"We played really well," said Jazz head coach Quin Snyder. "We did a lot of things well and we took care of the ball really well, which we haven't been doing. We just had a couple breaks down the stretch that didn't go our way."

After the two teams played to a 32-32 tie through one quarter, Utah jumped in front early in the second.

It was 52-43 before Millsap hit a pair of 3-pointers within a minute of one another to pull the Hawks within three. Millsap then threw down a highlight reel dunk in traffic, and Sefolosha made a reverse layup, giving Atlanta a 53-52 lead.

Out of a timeout, Teague stripped Trevor Booker in the backcourt and laid it in, capping a 13-0 run.

The Hawks led 57-54 at halftime.

Gordon Hayward came alive with a pair of field goals -- a 3-pointer and a dunk -- and a steal one minute into the second half, as Utah went back in front with a 7-0 run.

The Jazz led for the bulk of the third quarter and owned an 88-82 edge through three.
