Mavs invade Sacramento to face Kings

Feb 5, 2015 - 3:03 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Mavericks had a three-game winning streak snapped last time out, but will try to get back into the win column Thursday night at Sleep Train Arena against the Sacramento Kings.

The Mavs got demolished by the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night, 128-114. The 128 points allowed was the most in regulation by Dallas this season.

Dallas could not contain Steph Curry, but who can? The All-Star went off for 51 points, including 26 in the third quarter, and made 10 3-pointers en route to a 16-for-26 night.

"He's unbelievable," Dallas' Chandler Parsons said of Curry. "He's so quick. I tried to guard him for a bit and his first step is so quick."

Tyson Chandler posted 21 points and 17 rebounds, while Parsons supplied 24 points for Dallas. Dirk Nowitzki managed 15, followed by 14 from Monta Ellis, 12 from Al-Farouq Aminu and 10 out of J.J. Barea, who is starting in place of Rajon Rondo.

The former All-Star will miss more time with facial fractures.

Dallas allowed the Warriors to shoot 52.3 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range.

The Mavs took a 42-25 lead after the first quarter, but the Warriors chipped away. Golden State won the second by 11, then, thanks to Curry, hung 43 on Dallas in the third.

The Mavericks trailed by three with one quarter to go, but the Warriors dominated the fourth, 27-16.

Dallas returns to Texas for three straight against the Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz before the All-Star break.

The Kings also fell victim to the Warriors their last time out, a 121-96 thrashing in Sacramento on Tuesday.

DeMarcus Cousins tallied 26 points and 11 rebounds for Sacramento, which has lost nine of its last 10 games.

"They pushed the game ahead and made it tough for our whole team," Cousins said.

Rudy Gay chipped in 20 points, followed by 18 apiece from Ben McLemore and Darren Collison. The other nine Sacramento players who saw action combined for 14 points.

The Kings allowed the Warriors to shoot 50.5 percent from the floor and 43.5 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. They also committed 18 turnovers, which led to 25 points for Golden State.

Sacramento has dropped five in a row as the host with its last victory at home coming on Jan. 11 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Mavericks took both meetings this season and will go for the season sweep. Dallas has owned the Kings in recent history, going 20-2 over the last six years.

The Mavs are 8-2 in their last 10 in California's capital city.
