Warriors rally to down Celtics
Mar 2, 2015 - 4:14 AM Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephen Curry's 37 points fueled the Golden State Warriors' monumental comeback in their 106-101 win over the Boston Celtics on Sunday night.Klay Thompson tallied 20 points, Harrison Barnes posted 17 points with eight rebounds and Draymond Green added 14 points with 11 rebounds for Golden State, which trailed by as many as 26 in the first half before surging back into the game in the fourth quarter.
"I was happy that we showed good poise," said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. "We made stops, we rebounded, we moved the ball. When we do that, we're usually in pretty good shape."
Isaiah Thomas deposited 20 points off the bench to lead Boston, Tyler Zeller had 17 points and Evan Turner netted 10 points with nine rebounds and six assists.
"Somehow, you have to try and take some positives away," said Thomas. "The ball didn't move. I think that's what hurt us in the fourth quarter."
Boston led 65-49 at halftime, but Golden State chipped away at the large deficit, opening the third quarter on an 11-4 run to close the gap to single digits.
The Warriors trailed by 11 entering the fourth and Green started the final frame with a 3-pointer that kicked off a a 12-4 run that he capped with another trey.
Green's tip-in with 3:26 on the clock put Golden State in front, 96-94.
Marcus Smart buried a deep 3 with under two minutes to go to give the Celtics a 99-98 lead. However, the Warriors countered with back-to-back buckets to make it a three-point game. Thomas cut that margin to one with a layup and Curry accounted for the final margin with four free throws in the final 10 seconds.
Turner scored all 10 of his points in the first quarter to help Boston jump out to a 38-25 lead after 12 minutes.
Jae Crowder, who pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds, knocked down a 3 before Jonas Jerebko dialed one in from deep to stretch Boston's lead to 56-30 with under seven minutes to go in the first half.
