Cavs try to get on track vs. Detroit
Apr 13, 2015 - 1:54 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Cavaliers look to bounce back with two games left in the regular season and will host the Detroit Pistons Monday at Quicken Loans Arena.
The Cavaliers have lost two in a row after winning four straight and dropped a 117-78 decision against the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
Iman Shumpert led the short-handed Cavs with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Tristan Thompson and James Jones netted 14 apiece. LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and J.R. Smith did not play.
"It wasn't a fair situation to put them in," Cavs head coach David Blatt said of his reserves. "Suddenly they were in primary roles."
Cleveland is the second seed in the Eastern Conference and will host the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
The Pistons are playing out the string and will play two in a row on the road against the Cavaliers and New York Knicks.
Detroit went 2-2 on a recent homestand, which concluded with Sunday's 116-77 pounding of the Charlotte Hornets.
Jodie Meeks scored 24 points off the bench, Anthony Tolliver and Greg Monroe each tallied 17 points, and Andre Drummond registered a 15-point, 19-rebound double-double in the win.
"Really proud of our players. I've said it many times. They have really hung in there and really played hard," Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said.
The Pistons won for the second time in six tries.
Detroit is 1-2 against Cleveland this season and has lost five of the last six meetings between the Central Division foes.
