BOSTON (Ticker) -- Tony Allen scored 25 points and Leon Powe hit a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left to lift the defending champion Boston Celtics to a 96-94 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in preseason action on Friday.
Allen connected on 6-of-7 from the floor and hit 13-of-16 from the free-throw line. Patrick O'Bryant scored 12 points and rookie Bill Walker added 10 for the Celtics, who connected on 32-of-42 free throws.
Boston's "Big Three" rested most of the game. Ray Allen scored five points in limited time. Kevin Garnett added four and Paul Pierce scored eight.
LeBron James scored 15 points for Cleveland, which took a one-point lead on a layup by rookie J.J. Hickson with 3:23 left. It stayed that way until Walker tied the game with a free throw, and Powe hit a pair to seal the win.
Wally Szczerbiak had 13 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 12 for the Cavaliers.
