Kansas takes care of Kansas State

Jan 31, 2015 - 10:53 PM Lawrence, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Perry Ellis had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the ninth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks' 68-57 win over the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday.

Wayne Selden Jr. added 14 points and four blocks for the Jayhawks (18-3, 7-1 Big 12), who have won four in a row and sit atop the Big 12 standings. Brannen Greene tallied 11 points off the bench.

Thomas Gipson and Marcus Foster each scored 19 points for the Wildcats (12-10, 5-4), who have lost three of four.

"We need to stay the course, mature, keep battling and come ready to play Texas Tech on Wednesday," said Kansas State coach Bruce Weber.

Kansas started the game on a 20-5 run and never looked back. Ellis tallied eight points during the game-opening surge.

"It's always a fun game playing against them so I just went out there and played aggressive and tried to get rebounds," said Ellis.

The Jayhawks limited Kansas State to 17.1 percent shooting in the first half and took a 33-17 lead into the break.

Greene's 3-pointer made it a 51-34 contest with 10:39 to play. The Wildcats, though, scored the next six points to get within 11.

Another trey from Greene and a Devonte' Graham layup put the game out of reach.
