No. 1 Kentucky routs 18th-ranked Arkansas
Mar 1, 2015 - 2:08 AM Lexington, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Andrew Harrison and Trey Lyles each scored 18 points and No. 1 Kentucky stayed unbeaten with an 84-67 dismantling of 18th-ranked Arkansas.Lyles shot 8-for-10 from the floor, while Harrison converted all eight of his free throws tries for Kentucky (29-0, 16-0 SEC), which is three wins shy of matching the longest win streak in program history.
"You saw Andrew Harrison attack," said Kentucky coach John Calipari. "Only one time did he try to draw a foul. The rest of them he shot layups, made plays, did a great job."
The Wildcats won 32 straight from 1954 to 1955.
Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively off the bench, and Willie Cauley-Stein finished with seven points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
Arkansas (23-6, 12-4) got 17 points and nine rebounds from Michael Qualls and 15 points from Bobby Portis, but lost its three-game win streak in this series.
"I was disappointed in the outcome, but I was not disappointed by the effort," said Arkansas coach Mike Anderson. "They are undefeated and they took care of their home court."
Kentucky raced out to an 11-2 lead and never looked back. A pair of Aaron Harrison free throws at 7:57 extended the lead into double figures for the first time, and it was at least nine the rest of the way.
The spread was 32-16 late in the first half when Arkansas rattled off seven straight to claw within 32-23. But UK closed the period on a 10-3 run to regain momentum heading into the locker rooms.
Kentucky built a 31-point lead, 78-47, following a 9-0 run midway through the second. Ulis capped the burst with five straight points.
The final result was lopsided despite Arkansas finishing the game on a 20-6 run.
