Mar 9, 2012 - 9:28 PM Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Draymond Green posted a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, leading the eighth-ranked Michigan State Spartans to a 92-75 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.Green added five assists, three blocks and a steal.
Adreian Payne supplied 16 points and seven rebounds for Michigan State (25-7), which snapped a two-game losing streak. Michigan State will face No. 14 Wisconsin in Saturday's semifinals.
Keith Appling posted 12 points and six assists for the Spartans, who shot a sizzling 70 percent (21-for-30) during the opening 20 minutes and rested their starters for a big chunk of the second half as the contest became a rout.
Josh Oglesby made five three-pointers and finished with 20 points to pace eighth-seeded Iowa (17-16). Roy Devyn Marble and Zach McCabe scored 13 points apiece in defeat.
"We lost to a very good team today, a very good team who played really hard," said Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery. "I thought at the start of the game we came out the right way. I thought we had a good beginning, and then it got away from us there a little bit, and I thought we fought hard in the second half. But that's a team that's going to be playing for a long time."
The Hawkeyes, who led by five in the early stages, tied the game at 22-22 on a Marble jumper with 11:14 remaining in the first half.
But Michigan State outscored Iowa 29-10 over the next nine minutes and went up 51-32 on Brandon Wood's layup.
The game's outcome was never in doubt, and the advantage reached a game-best 28 points, 78-50, on a Green free throw with just under nine minutes to play.
From then on, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo emptied his bench.
"What did impress me today was our passing and our unselfishness for three- fourths of that game," Izzo said.
