Creighton keeps on rolling, downs Bradley

Feb 2, 2013 - 10:44 PM Omaha, NE (Sports Network) - Doug McDermott recorded 25 points and seven rebounds to lead No. 21 Creighton in a 75-58 victory over Bradley on Saturday.

McDermott was 9-for-15 from the field for the Bluejays (20-3, 9-2 MVC), who have won three straight and 14 of their past 16 games. Austin Chatman scored 16 points, while Gregory Echenique added 10 points on 4-for-4 shooting and also posted three blocks.

Dyricus Simms-Edwards had 18 points and Walt Lemon Jr. added 15 for Bradley (13-10, 5-6), which was coming off a win against Illinois State on Tuesday.

The game was close throughout the first half, as neither team had a lead of more than five points. Lemon's layup with 44 seconds remaining gave Bradley a 30-27 edge at halftime.

However, Creighton's offense in the second half was too efficient for Bradley to handle, as the Bluejays shot 18-for-26 from the field, including five three-pointers. Creighton took the lead early on, scoring eight unanswered points.

With 10:14 remaining and the Bluejays up 53-48, Chatman made a three point jumper, starting a 12-0 run in which McDermott scored nine consecutive points, sealing the victory.
