Washington State looks to stay unbeaten at home

Jan 31, 2008 - 2:53 PM California (11-7) at No. 9 Washington St (17-2) 10:00 pm EST

PULLMAN, Washington (Ticker) - Ninth-ranked Washington State tries to keep its perfect home record intact when it hosts California in a Pac-10 Conference game Thursday.

Washington State has cruised to a 10-0 record at home, winning just two games by single digits - both nine points - including a 69-60 victory over Oregon on January 20.

Last week, the Cougars (17-2, 5-2) split a pair of road games, bouncing back from a loss at Arizona on Thursday to defeat Arizona State, 56-55, on Saturday.

Derrick Low leads the Cougars in scoring, averaging 14.1 points.

The Bears (11-7, 2-5) have lost three straight contests - all at home - and five of their last six after dropping an 82-77 decision to Stanford on Saturday.

Sophomore Ryan Anderson leads the Pac-10 in scoring at 21.3 points per game but tied a season low with 11 points in the loss to Stanford.

This game will be a matchup of contrasting styles. The Cougars allow just 53.9 points per game, while the Bears average 79.3 points, Washington State won both meetings between the teams last season.
