Louisville routs Memphis for 13th straight win
Jan 26, 2014 - 9:16 PM Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Shoni Schimmel made a school-record nine attempts from 3-point range in a 29-point effort that led fifth-ranked Louisville to an easy 88-61 win over Memphis.Schimmel finished 9-of-12 from beyond the arc to pace four Cardinals in double figures as Louisville (20-1, 8-0 AAC) rolled to its 13th consecutive victory. Emmonni Henderson contributed 14 points off the bench, with Sara Hammond totaling 13 points and eight rebounds and Asia Taylor adding 12 points.
Ariel Hearn topped Memphis (10-10, 3-5), coming off an 83-49 throttling by top-ranked Connecticut on Wednesday, with 15 points. Mooriah Rouser had 14 points in the loss.
The teams were tied at 15-15 when Schimmel caught fire from the permiter, burying six 3-pointers and accounting for all but two points of a 22-4 run that put Louisville in front to stay. She capped the burst with a jumper that staked the Cardinals to a 37-19 advantage with three minutes left in the half.
Schimmel ended the opening period with her eighth triple off the day, capping off a 26-point period and sending Louisville into the break owning a commanding 47-25 lead.
