Middle Tennessee stays unbeaten in Sun Belt
Feb 8, 2007 - 6:54 AM MONROE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Louisiana Monroe's blistering shooting night still couldn't derail Middle Tennessee.Amber Holt scored 25 points and Chrissy Givens added 22 to lift the 18th-ranked Blue Raiders to an 83-70 Sun Belt Conference victory over the Warhawks.
Middle Tennessee (22-3, 14-0 Sun Belt) shot 60 percent (31-of-52) to remain undefeated in conference play. That nearly matched Louisiana Monroe, which finished 61 percent (28-of-46) but was foiled by 26 turnovers.
The Blue Raiders used a 22-8 run to open a 43-26 first-half lead. Givens scored the final nine points in the spurt as Middle Tennessee took a 45-32 lead into halftime.
Holt scored nine points in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the second half to keep the Blue Raiders comfortably in front.
Nedra Winston led the Warhawks with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
