Louisville runs past UCF
Jan 16, 2014 - 2:43 AM Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Shoni Schimmel scored 27 points and Sara Hammond added 22 to lead No. 5 Louisville to a 75-56 win over UCF on Wednesday.Bria Smith added 10 points for the Cardinals (17-1, 5-0 AAC), winners in 10 straight.
Sara Djassi poured in a game-high 28 points and Zykira Lewis finished with 14 for the Knights (8-8, 1-4), who have dropped a season-high four straight.
UCF stayed within striking distance for much of the first half, trailing 23-21 with 6:05 left. Louisville, though, closed the half on a 19-5 burst to take a 42-26 lead into the break.
The Cardinals' lead swelled to 21 points after a Schimmel jumper 4:40 in, but UCF was able to pull within 58-45 with 10:12 left.
The Knights didn't get closer than 11 the rest of the way.
