Blue Devils outlast Wolfpack
Feb 21, 2014 - 2:14 AM Durham, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Tricia Liston poured in 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead No. 7 Duke to an 83-70 win over No. 14 NC State on Thursday.Haley Peters totaled 13 points and 10 boards for the Blue Devils (24-3, 11-2 ACC), who face off against No. 2 Notre Dame on Sunday. Richa Jackson and Alexis Jones contributed 12 points apiece for the hosts.
Kody Burke tallied 30 points and seven rebounds for the Wolfpack (22-5, 9-4), who have lost two straight. Markeisha Gatling scored 16 and grabbed eight rebounds and Miah Spencer contributed 14 points in defeat.
The Blue Devils led by four with eight minutes remaining in the first half before they stretched their advantage to 27-15 with an 8-0 run. Burke countered for the Wolfpack and netted nine of their last 11 points in the half.
NC State trailed 40-27 to open the final frame before the Blue Devils used a 19-5 tear to go ahead 59-35 with 14 1/2 left to play. The Wolfpack came back within 70-66 following three consecutive 3s from Burke with 3 1/2 left on the clock.
Duke connected on 8-of-8 free throws in the final minute to seal the deal.
