Duke downs UNC for spot in ACC title game

Mar 9, 2014 - 4:11 AM Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Tricia Liston supplied a team-high 17 points, including a 3-pointer that sparked a late Duke run and propelled the 10th-ranked Blue Devils to a 66-61 victory over No. 13 North Carolina in the semifinals of the ACC tournament on Saturday.

The Tar Heels led 59-55 following Diamond DeShields' jumper with 3:47 left, but North Carolina went the rest of the way without a field goal, allowing Duke to surge ahead.

Liston knocked down a triple with 2:06 remaining and after Xylina McDaniel split two free throws, Elizabeth Williams made a layup to tie the game at 60-60 with 1:16 on the clock.

After an empty possession from the Tar Heels, Ka'lia Johnson drained two free throws before N'Dea Bryant split a pair of free ones at the other end to bring the Tar Heels within 62-61 with 35 ticks to play.

Oderah Chidom then drained two free throws for Duke and after DeShields misfired on a potential game-tying 3-pointer, Chidom hit two more from the charity stripe to seal the outcome.

Williams finished with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Richa Jackson added 11 points for the Blue Devils (27-5), who will take on No. 2 Notre Dame in Sunday's final. The Fighting Irish breezed past NC State earlier Saturday.

DeShields donated a game-high 25 points for the Tar Heels (24-9), who had a three-game win streak halted.
