Butler leads No. 23 Syracuse women past Pittsburgh 70-56
Feb 21, 2016 - 10:21 PM PITTSBURGH (AP) Brianna Butler scored 20 points and No. 23 Syracuse pulled away in the second half for a 70-56 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday.Brittney Sykes added 16 points and Alexis Peterson 15 for the Orange (22-6, 12-3 ACC), who won their eighth straight. Butler had all four of Syracuse's 3-pointers.
Aysia Bugg and Yacine Diop had 15 points apiece for the Panthers (12-15, 4-10) and Fred Potvin added 12. Stasha Carey had 10 rebounds to go with nine points and Diop had nine rebounds as Pittsburgh had a 31-29 advantage on the boards. However, the Panthers had 21 turnovers that the Orange turned into 28 points.
Syracuse trailed 22-16 after one quarter but rallied to take a 38-35 lead at the half. The Orange missed their first three shots of the second quarter but made their last six to finish 10 of 17 while Pittsburgh was missing seven in a row.
