0 shoutsHOUSTON (Ticker) -- After failing to do so during his senior season, Marlon Lucky made a statement to the NFL in the East-West Shrine Game.
The Nebraska running back rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on six carries as East held on for a 24-19 victory over West at the annual All-Star contest.
Lucky opened the scoring with a 7-yard rushing TD with 12:55 left in the second quarter. He also set up Javarris Williams' 3-yard rushing score that made it 14-3 with 6:48 remaining in the period, breaking a 47-yard rush.
The performance certainly improved the draft chances for Lucky, who rushed for 517 yards and seven touchdowns in 2008-09 after having over 1,000 yards in his junior campaign.
Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel's draft stock likely suffered the most in this one. Daniel completed 2-of-9 attempts for one yard for the East squad.
Tyrell Sutton of Northwestern had 37 rushing yards and a TD for East, which passed for just 83 yards.
The West team did not have as much trouble moving the ball through the air as Fresno State's Tom Brandstater and Texas A&M's Steven McGee combined for 287 passing yards.
Brandstater tossed a 22-yard score to Mike Thomas of Arizona in the third quarter and McGee found Rice's Jarett Dillard for a 35-yard TD strike in the fourth. Thomas made five catches for 73 yards and Dillard added three for 51.
