Guiton sets school record as No. 4 Ohio St. routs Florida A&M 76-0

Sep 21, 2013 - 10:14 PM Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Ohio State quarterback Kenny Guiton set a school record for touchdown passes in a single game with six as the fourth- ranked Buckeyes annihilated the Florida A&M Rattlers, 76-0, on Saturday.

Guiton, filling in again for an injured Braxton Miller, threw all six of his touchdown passes in the first half for the Buckeyes (4-0), who extended the nation's longest winning streak to 16 games. Guiton completed 24-of-34 passes for 215 yards and an interception.

Ezekiel Elliott carried the ball 14 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns for Ohio State, which racked up 603 yards of total offense. Evan Spencer caught four passes for 50 yards and two scores.

"It was good to see Kenny put up the numbers he did. It's awesome and special to be a part of his record," Spencer said.

Damien Fleming connected on 10-of-16 passes for 30 yards and an interception for the Rattlers (1-3), who have lost three in a row.

"First and foremost, the reason you come and play this type is to see where you are as a team," Florida A&M coach Earl Holmes said. "What we wanted to accomplish in this game was to not beat ourselves and just go out there and compete for 60 minutes."

On Ohio State's first possession of the game, Guiton was intercepted by Patrick Aiken. The Buckeyes, though, got the ball right back as Aiken lost control of the ball on the return. Jordan Hall's 3-yard TD run made it 7-0.

Philly Brown's 65-yard punt return set up Ohio State at the Florida A&M 11- yard line. That led to Jeff Heuerman's 11-yard touchdown reception. The two- point conversion failed.

The Rattlers had a punt blocked on the ensuing possession, which led to Spencer's 8-yard TD catch.

Ohio State converted on two fourth downs on its next drive, a 16-play series that ended with Carlos Hyde's 1-yard TD catch.

After Bradley Roby picked off Fleming, Devin Smith caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Guiton to make it 34-0.

In the second quarter, Hall added another rushing score while Chris Fields and Spencer caught touchdown passes from Guiton. The score was 55-0 at the break.

Elliott had touchdown runs of 16 and 13 yards in the third stanza. Cardale Jones added a 10-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
