SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Jason Campbell threw for a touchdown and Clinton Portis had a big game on the ground to lead the Washington Redskins to a 20-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
The Redskins snapped a two-game losing streak with the win in Washington coach Jim Zorn's return to the Pacific Northwest.
Zorn was the starting quarterback in the Seahawks' first game in 1976. He spent nine seasons with Seattle, then returned to the club as quarterbacks coach from 2001-07.
"I knew it was going to be a distraction," Zorn said of his return. "The pregame was fun, it was fun to go out and see some of the guys I haven't seen in a long time."
Shaun Suisham kicked two field goals for the Redskins (7-4), including a 22-yarder with just over nine minutes to play that turned out to be the winning points.
Matt Hasselbeck threw two touchdown passes for Seattle (2-9), which led, 10-7, at the half.
Portis picked up 143 yards on 29 carries despite missing most of practice this week with a sprained knee.
"I've had a sternum injury and a shoulder injury. Every injury, when you get it, you think it's the toughest," Portis said. "This is something I can fight through."
Washington looked like it was on its way to running out the clock until Ladell Betts fumbled at the Seattle 23 with 1:30 left and the Redskins nursing a three-point lead.
Shawn Springs took Betts off the hook, intercepting Hasselbeck near midfield on the next play and the Redskins were able to stay tied with the Dallas Cowboys (7-4) for second place in the NFC East.
"It was my fault," Hasselbeck said. "I misread the route by Koren (Robinson). I think he did everything he was supposed to do. It was a very costly mistake; a huge mistake and it ended our chances. Our defense gave us a great chance to come back and tie or win the game, and I made a poor decision and ended that chance. Ended the game, really."
Hasselbeck completed 12-of-24 passes for 103 yards in his first two-touchdown passing game of the season.
