Gaudreau, Stajan fuels Flames' win over Ducks

Mar 12, 2015 - 5:38 AM Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Johnny Gaudreau and Matt Stajan each tallied twice as Calgary took down Anaheim, 6-3, at the Saddledome.

Sean Monahan and Jiri Hudler added scores while Kris Russell and Dennis Wideman posted three assists apiece for the Flames, winners in five of their last seven games.

Karri Ramo made 29 saves for the win.

Ryan Getzlaf picked up a pair of goals and Hampus Lindholm posted the other score for the Ducks, who have lost three in a row.

John Gibson surrendered all six goals on just 23 shots in defeat.

"Calgary got a lot of goals on our mistakes," said Lindholm. "We were sloppy with the puck."

The Flames countered twice before the end of the first period and struck three more times in the second to take control.

Stajan tallied after the midway point of the first on a second-chance shot in the high slot and Gaudreau followed on a backhander with 4:35 left before intermission to even the score.

Stajan put the hosts ahead at 7:28 of the second period, Monahan upped the edge to 4-2 on a power play at 8:53, Gaudreau made it 5-2 off a one-timer from a Wideman pass at 13:59.

"Right now we're clicking really well, the chemistry is great between us on and off the ice," said Gaudreau.

Lindholm closed out the period on his goal at 18:59 which pulled the Ducks within 5-3.

Hudler restored Calgary's three-goal advantage when Gibson misplayed his initial errant shot and the rebound was flipped into a half-open net with 4:43 to play.

Getzlaf tallied 22 seconds after the opening faceoff and he doubled the visitors' advantage on a power play at 2:51.

Gaudreau cracked the 50-point plateau, the first Flames rookie to do so since Jarome Iginla in 1996-97 (21G, 29A) ... Calgary has produced at least four unanswered goals in one game for the third straight contest, for the first time since Feb. 26-March 3, 2000 ... Getzlaf's goals were the fastest by one player from the start of the game in Ducks history ... Monahan totaled a game- high six shots on goal.
