Final
Quick, Kings blank Bruins
Dec 3, 2014 - 7:10 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jonathan Quick stopped all 31 shots fired his way to post his third shutout, lifting the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-0 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli scored and Anze Kopitar supplied two assists for the Kings, who bounced back from a tough 4-1 loss to Chicago on Saturday.
Niklas Svedberg allowed just one goal on 34 shots in Boston's second straight loss on the West Coast.
"It's frustrating when you don't win games," Svedberg said. "We just need to keep working and try to find a way to raise our game."
Los Angeles had a 5-on-3 advantage for 1:35 after Kevan Miller went off for tripping and Patrice Bergeron took a delay of game penalty midway through the first. Svedberg was up to the task as he held off the Kings' barrage.
The Kings did, however, find the back of the net with 3:40 remaining in the opening stanza. Kopitar found a loose puck in the slot and drifted over to the left circle. Instead of shooting the puck, Kopitar sent it down to Pearson, who one-timed it from the bottom of the right circle into the open net for a 1-0 game.
After stopping 11 shots in the middle stanza, Quick stopped 12 more in the third, including a save where he dove across the crease to deny Torey Krug's blast from the left circle and keep it a one-goal game prior to the midpoint of the third.
Toffoli fired a shot into an empty net to seal the win with 50 seconds to play.
"We got two points against a great hockey team. We definitely have areas we can continue to be better at, but it was definitely a step better than the other night," Quick said.
