SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) - The Anaheim Ducks will look to snap a three-game losing streak when they play the San Jose Sharks for the second time in three days on Tuesday.
The defending Stanley Cup champions dropped a 2-1 shootout decision to San Jose on Sunday and also will play the Sharks on Saturday.
Defenseman and reigning Conn Smythe Trophy winner Scott Niedermayer returned to the Ducks lineup in Sunday's contest logging over 23 minutes of ice time and recorded eight shots on goal.
"You have an understanding that these guys have been out here battling for a long time," Niedermayer said. "They've been out here battling right from the start of the season and I want to come in and help them as much as I can."
The Ducks offense - led by Ryan Getzlaf's 36 points - has been slumping lately, failing to score more than two goals in any of the three losses during the skid.
San Jose has been rolling, winning seven of its last nine games to gain a first place tie with Dallas (18-11-4) atop the Pacific Division.
Center Joe Thornton leads the team with 13 goals and 26 assists, and scored the game-winner during the shootout in the sixth round of San Jose's win on Sunday.
Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov has been stellar in net as well with a goals-against average of 2.02 and a league-leading 18 victories.
