Calgary (10-8-1) at Colorado (8-9-0) 9:00 p.m. EST
DENVER (Ticker) -- The Calgary Flames ended the Avalanche's three-game win streak on Tuesday, but Colorado will not have to wait long to get revenge.
The Avalanche aim for retribution on Thursday when they host the Flames in the conclusion of a home-and-home series.
Defenseman Adrian Aucoin tallied to snap a tie with 7:32 remaining in the third period as Calgary scored three times in the session en route to a 4-1 win over Colorado on Tuesday.
Rene Bourque and David Moss also scored, captain Jarome Iginla added an empty-net goal and Daymond Langkow notched two assists as the Flames defeated the Avalanche for the third time and halted their Northwest Division rival's surge at three wins.
Goalie Peter Budaj suffered the loss, but hopes that the Colorado defense steps up in the rematch. Budaj made 13 saves in the first period, 18 in the second and 16 in the third to keep the Avalanche competitive during the loss.
"When they throw everything at us like that, it's a tough thing to defense," Budaj said. "They're coming at us at 100 miles per hour and they're a big, physical team. Tonight, we didn't win the battles on the wall, and the result was they got a lot of shots."
Calgary, which fired a season-high 51 shots on goal, will look for more of the same as the back-to-back is completed.
